Process control Training
Learn to understand and optimize the backbone of your control system
IPCOS’ PID tuning training course will teach you how to efficiently tune your PID controllers “first time right”.
Learn process control from experts with hands-on experience
PID is still the most widespread control strategy in the process industry and an optimally tuned PID controller brings safety, stability and better process performance.
Our experts will teach you how to optimize your PID controllers with real field experience.
Standard or customized training
The PID course can be customized to your needs and own level of experience.
In house training or at the IPCOS office
IPCOS training courses are held at IPCOS offices, but can also be conducted at your site. For 4 or more attendees an in-house training course is more cost-effective.
Combine with hands on exercises in your control room
We can extend the in-house training with tuning exercises in your control room, and on your DCS.
The PID course will cover the following aspects PID control:
Principles of Single and Multivariable systems. Before discussing the details of controlling single loops, we explain through lab exercises the different types of systems used by the industry.
Process Modelling. PID loop tuning performance depends on the quality of the model used for PID tuning. The more accurate the model, the better and more reliable the tuning results will be. Modelling of single and multivariable processes will therefore be an important topic in the course.
PID control algorithms. Analyze and understand PID controller concepts, best practices and strategies.
Advanced Regulatory Control (ARC) loops. We will help you analyze and understand advanced regulatory control loop concepts and strategies (e.g. cascade loops, split range controllers, etc.).
Hands-on lab exercises with single loops and multivariable loops form an important part of the course. We will guide you through the Single and Multivariable modelling and control design phase using IPCOS PID tuning software INCA AptiTune, during these lab exercises. We will help you commission the PID controllers you designed and evaluate the performance of the loops.
This PID course allows for extensive discussions on general control topics. Participants facing a process control challenge in their daily work will find the course a great opportunity to exchange thoughts with the course instructors and fellow participants.

PID Control & Tuning
Optimal base layer control starts with a good control design. Then tune all the PID loops such that every single loop in your plant is in auto mode and keeps all your process parameters at the desired setpoint 24/7.
Soft Sensing
Models based on historical data convert measurements such as temperature, pressure and flow rate to predict variations in production qualities. Softsensor output are used in control to optimize production.
Advanced Process Control
APC systems maintain your operation at the optimal operating point. APC improves product yield, maximizes throughput, increases your plant’s efficiency under varying feedstock quality and operating conditions.
